I’m Otto Baum, an artist and designer based in Berlin.
My work is about movement, geometry, color and the physical act of painting. I create large-scale abstract works for walls and spaces, using self-developed tools and systems.
For more than 20 years, I’ve been part of an artist collective, working in constant exchange with other artists and designers. This ongoing dialogue is an important part of how I think, develop ideas and approach my own work.
01 / THE PROCESS IS PART OF THE WORK
I experiment, repeat, adjust and build tools to make ideas physically possible. The result is never completely separate from the process that creates it.
02 / EVERY SPACE IS DIFFERENT
A wall is never just a surface. Its proportions, architecture, light and surroundings become part of the work. I develop the design with the space — not independently from it.
